Police Panel Meeting for South Cambs

Panel meetings for each South Cambs Sector are held every quarter.  Residents, Councillors and  Business Owners are encouraged to attend and share their crime and disorder concerns, thereby influencing local policing priorities for the next four months. Anyone can attend the meetings.

The next South Cambs Police panel:
Histon Sector – Panel Meeting – to be held on 22/2/2017 at 7.30 p.m. at  Orchard Park Community Centre, Central Ave, Cambridge CB4 2EZ

Introducing 14 NEW Junior Youth Workers

Leonardo Magrone, Hal Satchwell, Iantha Kingsman, Omera Mustafa, Louis Scarrow, Simone James-Henderson, Jasmin Bowen, Sophie Thurston-Barnes, Ryan McGillvray, Kali Huckle, Jude Huckle, Jamie Leigh Huckle, Zhara Akther and Joseph Campbell have all successfully completed their Level 1 Youth Worker qualification.

Over the last month; young people have attended a 15 hour course run by Andrea Cowley and Sarah Cloughly – Youth Workers for Histon & Impington Parish Council. They have explored the values and ethos of youth work; considered the role of a youth worker; looked at the skills and qualities required to engage young people; reflected on personal values and attitudes and developed an awareness of professional confidentiality and boundaries.

Andrea said ‘All 14 participants have been amazing fun to work with. Their enthusiasm, drive and hunger to learn new skills, and help other young people, is very humbling.’

Each Junior Youth Worker will now take up a voluntary placement to gain experience in the work place. If you run a project that would benefit from using their skills and knowledge, please contact Andrea Cowley, Youth Worker for Histon & Impington Parish Council at youth.worker@hisimp.net

The course was provided by Andrea Cowley with support from Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.

Make a Will Month – March 2017

A will makes sure that the people and causes you care about most are looked after.

A will is the only way for you to make sure that your possessions, property and money goes to the people and causes you care about.

Make a Will Month is an opportunity for you to make sure that your wishes are carried out by making a will or updating an existing will.  If you do not have a will, the government will decide who inherits what.  Why leave such important decisions to someone who doesn’t know what really matters to you?

What is Make a Will Month?

It is where local solicitors and will writers have agreed to waive their usual will writing fee, in exchange for you making a donation to Arthur Rank Hospice.

The suggested donation is £95 for a basic single will, £155 for a pair of basic mirror wills and £50 to update a will.

How do I make an appointment?

You can make an appointment by contacting one of the solicitors or will writers listed below, asking to make or amend a will.

Please note that appointments are only available during March and are limited in number.  If you therefore decide not to attend your appointment, please let the solicitor or will writer know as soon as possible so someone else can have your appointment.

You must quote ‘ARH Wills Month’ when making your appointment.

Participating solicitors and will writers:

Cambridge Will Writing – Cambridge

Miller Sands – Histon

Thomson Corfield and Webb – Cambridge & Histon
