Zero Carbon Community Green Connect: “Engaging Communities on Climate Change”

We have received the following from South Cambridgeshire District Council:

We are pleased to announce the next instalment of the ZCC Green Connect: “Engaging Communities on Climate Change”, taking place from 7pm to 8.30pm on Wednesday 18 May. Tickets are free and available online here.

Come along for this exciting talk on how to engage people on the climate emergency, exploring how best to get people on board with making changes in their lives to tackle climate change. Katie Williams from UK Youth Climate Coalition and 2G3S gives a talk on their research into why some people struggle to engage with the climate movement.

 

Histon and Impington Annual Parish Meetings

Annual Parish Meetings are not Parish Council meetings, but is an opportunity for you to ask questions that concern you about life in our villages.

The Annual Parish Meetings for both Histon Parish and Impington Parish will be held concurrently and convened by Denis Payne, Chairman of Histon & Impington Parish Council. Guest Speakers at this meeting include: Histon & Impington Green Spaces, Histon & Impington Skatepark Project and Community Land Trust (CLT)

Elections Just Ahead!

Elections for the new Council will take place on 5th May 2022!

The Notice of Election was published on 28th March, opening the nomination period for candidates. There are 8 places for Impington candidates, and 11 for Histon. Nominations must be submitted by hand to South Cambridgeshire District Council at Cambourne before 4pm on 5th April.  You will need a nominator and seconder from the Parish and appearing on the Electoral Roll to qualify. If insufficient candidates come forward to fill the 19 places, there will be no election but if more than 19 are nominated there will likely be a formal election, except if withdrawals are received within a short timeframe.

Histon & Impington Parish Council have made an appointment to deliver all nomination forms received by end of today (31st March 2022) to South Cambridgeshire District Council tomorrow at 8.30am.   If you can deliver your forms to the Parish Office by 2pm this afternoon then we will deliver your completed form on your behalf.

Please contact the Parish Office if you wish to learn more about the opportunity to become a Parish Councillor for Histon and Impington. We would be delighted to hear from you!  

Don’t forget the closing date for nominations is 4pm Tuesday 5th April and the nomination form must be in the hands of South Cambs District Council by then.

Launch of Consultation – Proposed New Homes and Community Park in Impington

Flagship Homes is launching a public consultation ahead of submitting an outline planning application for a development on land off Milton Road, Impington. The proposals are for 50 new homes, 25 of which will be affordable, and a 4.8ha Community Park

A New Website for South Cambridgeshire

South Cambs District Council Business Support team have been busy working on a new website to promote everything there is to see and do in South Cambridgeshire, to support the local economy by encouraging tourists to visit the area and local people to spend more time in the district.

Ahead of the site’s launch in the autumn, the team is inviting local businesses and event organisers to secure a free listing by submitting information and photos online via a short questionnaire.

  • parks, open spaces and cultural attractions

Bike Events – Cambridge 100/60/35 mile Charity Cycle Ride

Bike Events are once again organising the Cambridge 100/60/35 mile charity cycle ride.  The ride will take place on Sunday 23 May 2021, starting and finishing at Impington Village College.

The ride will start between 7am and 9.30am, with riders leaving in small groups between these times and returning throughout the afternoon.  The event itself will close at 6pm.

The ride is held on the open road with permission from the local Highways Authority and notification of the local Police and statutory bodies.  The route will be fully signed and marshaled with support services provided by professional first aiders and cycle mechanics. All Covid guidelines will be followed and this has been agreed with the local Safety Advisory Group.

Choir 2000 on The Green

Choir 2000 will be spreading some Christmas cheer Saturday 19th December on The Village Green. The open-air performance will start from 12.30pm for a 45 minute session

Free Dr.Bike Repair Sessions on Friday 15th January 2021

Get your bike up and running again with CyclingUK’s Big Bike Revival Dr Bike repairs. Book a 30 minute slot then bring your bike along and a friendly mechanic from Outspoken Cycles will carry out an inspection, make necessary repairs and fit any minor necessary parts, all for free!

Slots are available on Friday 15th January 2021 from 9.00 a.m. until 3.30 p.m. at the Village Green.
