Neighbourhood Plan survey results workshop

Just a reminder that … there will be a workshop this coming Thursday, 8 Dec 16 at 8pm in the Community Room at the Rec at which we will go through the results of the recent survey and give residents and others who have an interest the opportunity to comment on it.

Please note that neither the Parish Council nor the Neighbourhood Plan team have developed any conclusions yet, those presented so far are those of the company which ran the survey. Your input to shape these conclusions is very important so please come along and have your say!

OurHI: thank you!

The OurHI Neighbourhood Plan survey closed at noon on Monday with over 2000 responses. Thank you!

There’s a good distribution of respondents with all age groups represented including an impressive number of younger people. People who visit the community have also provided significant input.

This is an excellent result and gives us lots of data to analyse. There are also lots of verbatim comments which also be analysed and reported.

We expect the report of the survey to be presented at the Parish Council meeting in November (Mon 21 Nov 16) after which it will be made public. We will also look for opportunities to present it to other groups within the community.

Histon & Impington Neighbourhood Plan – Have Your Say!

Residents will have received a survey form, which a team of volunteers has delivered to all households.  Included with the form is a return envelope.   Alternatively residents or those working in, studying in, or simply visiting can complete a form online at www.enventure.co.uk/ourhi    The end date for completion is 14th October 2016

Please encourage all members of your family and your friends and other contacts in the community to participate.    “Our chance to influence what Histon & Impington will be like in the next 10 -15 years!”

Highways Committee News – Have Your Say!

The Highways Committee are looking to increase the number of cycle stands around the villages with the view of making cycling a more convenient way of getting around.

We would like to hear your views on possible locations, it does not have to be the obvious places either. For example you may cycle somewhere on the outskirts of the village to go for a walk and would like somewhere to lock your bike up.

If you have any suggestions please email them to admin@hisimp.net by 31st August.

Help to shape the Neighbourhood Plan

At the Feast Market on Saturday morning there will be two parish council stands.

One stand will be a ‘typical’ parish council stand featuring information about informal open space and environmental matters within the community. It’s worth a visit.

The other stand will be ‘branded’ our HI and will be about the Neighbourhood Plan where we will be talking about the plan, asking people to engage with the it in general and, in particular, to participate in focus groups.

There’s more information about the Neighbourhood Plan at www.hiplan.net.

Alternatively is you want to sign up to join a focus group you can do so now at www.enventure.co.uk/ourhi.

What are our village priorities? tell us what you think

The Neighbourhood Plan has made steady progress through the year. A core Neighbourhood Plan team has been formed and this works subject to the guidance of a steering committee which ensures that the work it does is on track and addressing what’s seen as important by the community.

Following a recent meeting with the steering committee (Oct 14) a list of 5 top level priorities has been published. There’s a short report of that meeting at bit.ly/1vMPhIP

We are still interested in people’s opinions of these so if you go to svy.mk/15SLQYJ you can tell us (1) whether or not you agree with them; and (2) if you think we’re missing something really important.

The next steps will be to:

  • explain broadly ‘how’ we will address these priorities
  • be specific about what this means in terms of actions
  • where appropriate, develop these actions into planning policies

After that we’ll have a Neighbourhood Plan which we can publish and begin the process of getting it signed off by the community, by South Cambridgeshire District Council and by ‘the inspector’.

Finally: please don’t think this is a closed process being undertaken by a limited group of people. Practicalities mean that this is sometimes the case but we are very open to anyone contributing to the development of the Plan. If you want to join in please contact Nick Wood (nick.wood@hisimp.net

Progress of the neighbourhood plan

The Parish Council’s leading the development of a Neighbourhood Plan. This is a strategic piece of work to deliver a document that guides the way the village will be developed in the future.

Currently there’s a core team of 6 people made up from parish councillors and village residents who’re starting to put this document together. Last night they took their initial proposal of 7 neighbourhood plan objectives to a wider steering committee to see if they were on the right track. The objectives were mainly supported, but it became clear there needs to be more work done to explicitly support new themes. The village cares deeply about keeping its sense of identity (not become a dormant village), creating connections between people with similar interests, reducing its carbon footprint and the environment. Other themes that we have are around:

· Safety and security
· Housing supply
· Social infrastructure
· Access and mobility
· Commercial success

We additionally have cross-cutting themes of technology, heritage and sustainability that must be taken into consideration when talking about any of the above.

There is a lot to think about, and the Neighbourhood Plan team will be meeting on a regular basis over the coming months. We will be presenting to the steering committee and also trying to get neighbourhood feedback through various channels. It’s the neighbourhood plan team’s intention to get as much feedback from the community as possible. If you feel you’d like to contribute, please check back here from time to time to see how we’re doing and how you can contribute.
