Work is Starting at School Hill Site

Work is starting at the School Hill site on Monday 21st September.  The first job will be the delivery of portacabins and then on the 22nd hoardings will be installed which will take approximately a week to erect and paint. Please allow for some minor delays if you are visiting the site next Monday/Tuesday by car.

The hoardings will be installed around the row of shops adjacent to Tesco resulting in a loss of parking to the rear and no access to the Youth Shelter. Click here to view plan. Access to the Tesco store will not be affected.

Road Closure – Impington Lane

Please see below update from Cambridge Water:

A new housing development is currently under construction off Impington Lane, Impington and as part of our obligation to provide water to residents of this development, it will be necessary to carry out two new water mains connections.

Where?

Two new connections will be added at the junction of Merrington Place with Impington Lane and at the entrance to the Hill construction site adjacent to 51 Impington Lane.

When?

We are carrying out the work during the school holidays to prevent any additional inconvenience. The work will start on Saturday 29 August 2020 and will take up to five days to complete.

Will traffic be affected?

In order to carry out these necessary works safely, we will need to close Impington Lane to traffic from the junction of Merrington Place to the junction of New Road. Access to frontages will be maintained and a suitable diversion will be in place with local signage.

Clerkin Civils need to undertake two foul water drainage connections for the development so, to minimise disruption, we have arranged to work at the same time so that the road will only need to be closed once.

For details of the road closure see One.network.

Play Area Closures – Histon & Impington

It is with a very heavy heart, Histon & Impington Parish Council have decided to close the Recreation Ground play area and public toilets, The Green Play area and the South Road play area with immediate effect (today).

This decision taken is to protect the health and welfare of our staff and visitors by restricting any potential spread of the coronavirus. The good weather, school closures and extra pressure from other local park’s closing means we are concerned we could have more numbers than we feel is manageable under the Government’s social distancing recommendations.

We strongly believe that green spaces are vital to our health and well-being and that they will play a very important role in our recovery, for this reason and due to its size, the Recreation Ground field will remain open for the time being.

Update from Histon & Impington Parish Council

Following Government Guidelines, Histon & Impington Parish Council have taken the decision to close the Recreation Centre including outdoor facilities and the Parish Office. Office staff will be working from home, usual Office hours. We will endeavour to operate business as usual, but there may be a delay getting back to you whilst we settle into working from a new environment.  You can still contact the Parish Council by phone or email.

All Council meetings have been postponed until further notice.

If you have a booking in the Community Room, MUGA or Hardcourt you will be contacted by the Office Manager.

These measures are being taken to protect both our residents and staff and to enable the Parish Council to continue to function and offer support to those who may need it.

Homefield Park Estate Railings

We will be replacing the fencing at the front of Homefield Park in the week beginning March 2nd 2020. Prior to the installation there will be some ground work taking place.

Homefield Park will remain open throughout the works, but there may be footpath closures so please take extra care when entering the park.
