Next Sunday Steam Trains Return to Histon Station!

We have received the following news from the H & I Model Rail Group
On Sunday, 17 July, the Histon and Impington Model Rail Group, will be displaying and operating the ‘Little Histon Model Railway’ at the Pavilion at the Recreation Ground as part of the Festival Sunday celebrations. We will be there from 12.30pm until 5.00pm. Histon & Impington Feast purchased the model railway in the Spring. This is the first time the layout has been displayed in the village. The layout depicts Histon Station in the 1930s when the Chivers Jam Factory was in full production. The creator of the layout, Graham Tandy, will also attend and give a talk about why and how he made the model. The talk is scheduled for 2pm and also 3.30pm.

Are you a railway modeller? Do you know anyone in the village who is? The Model Rail Group has only recently been established and we are keen to make contact with modellers in the village. Anyone who is interested should let me know at lambsquay@hotmail.com<mailto:lambsquay@hotmail.com>. We also have a Facebook Site (please search for ‘Little Histon’) and you are welcome to become a Friend.

The Rail Group is also looking for a home for the layout. The layout measures 8 feet by 18 inches and we need somewhere secure and damp free to store it (where ideally we can also work on it from time to time). Do you know anywhere in the village that we could use? If so please get in touch with me at lambsquay@hotmail.com<mailto:lambsquay@hotmail.com>.

I hope to see you next Sunday.

Simon Payne. Histon and Impington Model Rail Group.
