South Cambs District Council’s team will be working at the Brook at about lunchtime on Tuesday 25th May so please keep the area as clear as possible. They will be putting more silt into the new beds, and then later in the year the Parish Council will be sorting out planting areas and plants for the new beds.
Where does the silt come from?
The silt is coming from the deposits at the bottom of the Brook. The Brook is part of the drainage network for the village, taking water that runs off land and the road network – that brings mud, tyre rubber etc., which turns into the silt. Because of the runoff from the roads, it is regarded as contaminated waste, and can’t be spread on fields as it might have been in the past.
