Good news for the Busway

Not sure how many people are venturing out this morning but if you do you’ll find that the problems with the Busway south of Histon have been sorted over the weekend.

The County Council advises:

‘On Sunday evening, the team from Skanska attended the Busway A track south of Histon in order to carry out an excavation and inspection of the displaced guideway beam.

Having excavated the affected beam, the team found that the supporting shims had become dislodged to such an extent that the beam end was not being supported. The shims were replaced, with the result that the affected beam is now level with the adjacent section, thus eliminating the ‘step’ which had been affecting the track’s ride quality.

As there is no longer a hazard to buses at this location, the speed restriction imposed since last Wednesday has now been lifted; the local signage indicating the restriction and safety zone has been taken down, and will be completely removed from the area during the course of tomorrow.’

Well done those concerned!
