Time is running out to get views heard about a devolution deal for our area. Devolution is when certain power, responsibilities and funding are transferred down from Central Government to a local region.
This could mean that more important decisions are decided by a local combined authority rather than being imposed by Government as well as new funding. This would include decisions on things like housing, transport and major infrastructure projects.
An initial proposal was a deal covering Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Norfolk and Suffolk but this was replaced by separate proposals, including one for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough only. At the end of June 2016, Cambridgeshire County Council, alongside Cambridgeshire and Peterborough City councils and the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Local Enterprise Partnership, agreed to put these proposals out to public consultation.
Histon & Impington Parish Council has prepared a response to that consultation – click here to view the current draft. This response is being considered at Full Council on Monday 15th August 2016. If you have any views or comments please email them to clerk@hisimp.net. Alternatively you can respond to consultation via the survey.
The consultation will only run until Tuesday 23 August 2016.
