Weekend Road Closures

We have received the following update from Costain, the principal contractor for the A14 Girton to Histon Pinch-point improvement scheme. They are working with the Highways Agency to deliver a safe and effective programme of works that will provide the much needed improvements on this busy section of road:

You will recall receiving ‘Works Information Notices’ regarding the start of the above works and a series of overnight lane and carriageway closures to prepare for the establishment of site traffic management, safe designated working areas and the commissioning of temporary speed cameras for the construction of an additional lane in each direction.

As the work progresses there will be the need for further carriageway closures next week and in the forthcoming weeks.

For the week commencing Monday 3rd November and continuing until Tuesday 11th November the A14 westbound link road at junction 31 & the access road to the A14 east at junction 31 for vehicles travelling from the M11 south will both be closed between 21:00hrs and 06:00hrs

There will be also be periodic lane closures on other nights, however two lanes will be maintained in each direction during the day to support peak time traffic flows.

The closures and diversion will be well sign posted and details of the diversion can be seen on the Highways Agency website – http://www.highways.gov.uk/roads/road-projects/A14-Junction-31-to-32-Eastbound-and-Westbound-Improvements.

Regular updates on progress throughout construction can be found on the website detailed above and you can keep up to date with live traffic announcements by following the Highways Agency on Twitter: @highwaysagency.

We very much regret any inconvenience caused by the closures and if you have any questions regarding the project you can contact Brian Greaves our Community Relations Manager on the 24 hour helpline 0845 600 2664.
