Weather warning!

The County Council has told us about a Multi-Agency teleconference that took place today in light of the weather warning from the Met Office.

Isolated heavy thunderstorms are expected to develop during this afternoon, developing rather more widely this evening and bringing with them the risk of localised intense rainfall, hail and frequent lightning. Any storms that do develop could last well into the coming night before fading. Rainfall totals could see a risk of between 20mm, or up to 50mm in a few hours.

Potential hazards will include disruption to transport as a result of surface water flooding from short period intense downpours, hail and possible lightning-based power interruptions.

Tomorrow the remnants of the overnight showers/storms should die away but one or two further showers could develop through the day although they should prove rather less active than those of today/tonight.

Further updates will sent as they become available and we are working with our public service colleagues to manage any issues that may happen.
