The blocks are gone!

The concrete blocks off to the side of the guideway at Gatehouse Lane have finally been taken away.

These blocks were put in place some time ago when that section of the guideway was finished but buses were not yet running. They were there to prevent unauthorised access but then when the guideway was formally opened they were simply moved aside and not taken away.

The blocks have become as eyesore but the County Council has claimed that it has no funding to pay for their removal. Fortunately parish councillor Marcus Dann had other ideas and arranged for them to be taken away. The County Council is now planting a ‘mature’ hedge to protect the open space previously guarded by the blocks.

  1. That area was supposed to be landscaped ie planted with trees and bushes, not just a hedge. This is the responsibility of the Guided Bus people and should be in their budget. It was a part of the proposal put forward by the county council and a part of the planning permission.

They should not be allowed to get away with this.

  2. This area should be landscaped (trees and bushes) as promised by Guided Bus people in their proposal – which was given planning permission with this promise from County Council. They should pay.
