The conceptual plans for the Histon & Impington Gateway development are now on show at the library. It’s just a selection of the exhibits of those shown at the open meeting earlier this month and of course there are no architects present to explain them. However please visit and take a look and feed back your comments. Many thanks to the library for putting this on.
In connection with this proposed development, please note that no approvals have yet been sought or given, Emily Haysom has offered her services free of charge to develop ideas for the development of the public realm and a workshop will take place (Thu 19 Nov 15 at 1900 at the Rec) to explore ideas. I guess without wishing to ‘predetermine’ that means Cambridge Road and the Guided Bus crossing and the the immediate neighbourhood.
The agenda for the workshop will include:
- What are your feelings about the site? Who else should we be asking this question/can provide an input?
- Site as it is: focal points, thresholds/edges, routes and movement, barriers.
- Site aspirations: Improvements and interventions – focal points, thresholds/edges, routes and movements, ‘interruptions’/ pauses (this could be traffic calming or a bench), connections.
Please come along and provide an input. This should be an exciting opportunity to transform a part of our community which is currently ‘just a road and a rather ugly crossing’.
Would love to see the old station building site expanded into something more
