Silver Circles Project – Do You Know Someone?

Future East have provided us with details of their Silver Circles project, as follows:

A three year project is to be funded by Comic Relief to benefit the financial health of older people across the Eastern Region and we are looking for people to get involved with Silver Circles in their own area.

What is a SILVER CIRCLE? – Silver Circles are small groups of friends, family, neighbours or social groups who are 60 or over, who meet for 5 conversations of 2 hours on a weekly basis. We discuss how to save money and increase disposable income by sharing information, deals and ideas.

How will it be useful? – You will learn something for yourself, your family, your friends and your neighbours that will benefit you each week.

How can you get involved? – We are looking for conductors and participants:
Conductor– this is a voluntary position and is the person who will lead the conversations each week. You should be able to facilitate 5 sessions of 2 hours each on consecutive weeks using the Silver Circles material and will receive a two hour training session by yourself or with other volunteers in your area/place of work. You will also need to spend about I hour a week of home reading/preparation and will have ongoing support from the project co-ordinator.

Future East can help you to find a group to work with. We can also help you find a venue, which we shall pay for, including refreshments and shall provide all the resources that are needed to run the conversations.
You do not need to be over 60 to be a Conductor.

Participant – you must be 60 or over or be a carer of someone who 60 or over. You should be able to attend the 5 conversations on consecutive weeks and spend 30-45 minutes of home reading/preparation in between sessions
