The referendum to accept the plan is important for our community because it gives us the extra muscle to object to and resist inappropriate development proposals.
Please can further information be given on the requirement for parking spaces needed following extensions to houses within the village?
The plan is tweaking what is already in SCDC Local Plan policies. Because the SCDC policies don’t provide spaces for visitors, deliveries, tradesmen’s vehicles etc it’s increasing the numbers. That should also cover the increasing number of young adult car owners who are still at home because they can’t afford to get their own homes. And where roads are already congested or are bus routes it’s asking that all parking is provided off the road.
At the same time it’s increasing provision for, and encouragement to use, cycles, for example: “All residential cycle parking shall be sited in a manner that encourages the use of a cycle as the first choice for short trips.”
