Full council meeting this week

It was a full agenda at the parish council meeting this week.

In addition to two significant motions there was also a presentation from Histon FC and there were a number of questions from members of the public.

Motion number 1 related to an investment in new railings for Homefield Park along the B1049. The current fencing is in a bad state of repair and needs to be replaced. The new railings will complement the new gates, they will open up the park for view from the B1049 and they will be less expensive to maintain. The motion was carried unanimously.

In motion number 2 the Council reaffirmed its commitment to the development of a neighbourhood plan and established a team to deliver it.

John Hall, a director at Histon FC, spoke about the difficulties which the club has gone through in recent years as it has struggled to sort out its finances. He talked about its less than ideal relationships with other community organisations including the parish council and gave the club’s commitment to working more closely with them in the future.

Questions from the public related to current and proposed highways schemes. Concerns were expressed about their impact on the Green and more information was requested about plans before they get implemented. The Chair of the Highways Committee thanked them for their comments and reassured them there would be further opportunity for them to provide input.
