Environment Committee News

A meeting of the Environment Committee took place on 5 April, see minutes here

Items of special note include:

  • The review of the uses of Homefield Park continues, with input both positive and negative received from residents. Lessons are there to be learned and the Council will be asked to consider and discuss the concept of increased use of our open spaces in order to set policy going forward
  • Having purchased the BT kiosk in Milton Road for £1, the Committee are looking at renovation options and the Public Art Working Party reported on proposals to display acrylic images of local scenes or history
  • Members of the Community Allotment at Gatehouse Road site spoke of their excellent progress with their allotment plot and plans for the future. Look out for news on this website of both their plans and those of the Sustainability Working Party in the coming months

  1. There is also a phone box in Station Road opposite Best One that looks very underused. Is it possible to also convert this to something more useful to the local community?
