Drop In Event for Flooding Information

The Parish Council would like to hear about your experiences during the recent periods of heavy rainfall.  Many residents have already emailed their thoughts and sent photos through but we will be holding a drop-in at the Baptist Church, Station Road, on Thursday 21 August between 6pm and 8pm

We would be interested to hear about how you were affected and hope to gather information to pass onto the appropriate authorities to help plan for the future.  Photographic evidence is most welcome but not necessary

Please try and come along during that timeframe if you think you can help

  1. Surface water drains in Parlour Close over full then flow into the sewer which in turn flows through my garage. Drains used to be sucked out but not for a long time!!?

  2. Station Road, Histon.
We were flooded on Friday 8th then again on Thursday 14th.
I assume the County Councils drains and gullies could not cope with the heavy rain and as a consequence the Anglian Water foul drains overflowed.
Apparently the CCC dont have enough money to clean drains, laterals, watercourses etc, according to one of thier Highway Inspectors.
We had sewage flowing into the cottage from a foul sewer manhole on both occasions.
AW have been out to check the drains are clear and someone came out on Friday 15th to have a look (took a week even though they said it would be within 4 hours), despite numerous phone calls and promises of calls back, nothing has happened yet.
