We have received  the following advice from Cambridgeshire County Council:

Some of you have been asking about the renewals of free concessionary bus passes and why we are encouraging people to do it online.

Over the next 12 months around 80,000 people across Cambridgeshire will need to renew their concessionary bus pass. If all of these went through the contact centre then it would tie up an unsustainable amount of staff time and impact on us delivering other services.

If we can encourage those who are comfortable renewing their bus pass online to do it this way it means our Contact Centre and library staff will have more time and capacity to give a better personal service for those who do not have access to the Internet or do not know how to go online.

Nearly 70 per cent of those receiving an e-mail have gone on to renew online which has saved the Council time and thousands of pounds already but importantly also made it easier for those renewing.

We would like to ask you to encourage your residents who can or feel comfortable doing so to use the online form at http://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/info/20017/buses/124/free_bus_pass   so we can better deal with those who aren’t online.
