  • Removal of existing drainage manhole chambers
  • Placement & compaction of first layer of stone to plug existing manholes

  • Complete breaking of existing tarmac
  • Excavation of topsoil

  • Central reservation and east bound verge between Histon & Girton
  • Excavation for future road construction

W/C 9th July

  • Central reservation between Milton & Histon slip roads
  • Grouting existing drainage. Grouting means the filling of chambers with a cement compound
  • Complete placement & compaction of first layer of stone at manhole plugs
  • Commence second layer of stone
  • Equipment: Ready mixed concrete truck, excavator and roller

 

  • Central reservation between NIAB overbridge & Girton
  • Complete topsoil excavation
  • Equipment: Excavator

 

  • Central reservation between Histon & Girton
  • Commence stone placement & compaction
  • Equipment: Excavator and roller

 

  • East Bound verge between Histon and King hedges
  • Complete excavation for future road construction
  • Equipment: Excavator

 

  • UK Power Networks cable diversion underneath Kings Hedges Bridge (Daytime working)

  • Continue placement & compaction of second layer of stone
  • Placement and compaction of lower road base tarmac
  • Equipment: Excavator and roller

  • Continue placement & compaction of second layer of stone

  • Central; reservation between Milton & Histon
  • Complete placement & compaction of second layer of stone
  • Placement & compaction of upper road base tarmce
  • Equipment: Excavator and roller

 

  • Central reservation detail between Milton & Histon slip roads
  • Plane existing tarmac to form bound with new tarmac
  • Placement & compaction of binder course tarmac
  • Equipment: Road lorries, 1m wide plainer, tack coat sprayer, excavator and roller

  1. In case anyone is wondering what a ‘pecker’ is it is a hydraulic breaker attachment fitted to an excavator. Probably the greatest source of noise, vibration and therefore annoyance but labour and time saving.
