A Lorax required – to speak for the trees

Are you a tree expert? Do you, or have you, work(ed) in arboriculture? Would you have a small amount of spare time to help by sharing your expertise?

The Parish Council relies on a small group of volunteers to provide comments on proposals for tree works in Histon and Impington. The Parish Council is consulted when tree works are proposed within a Conservation Area, or when specific tree (or group of trees) has a Tree Protection Order (TPO) on it. The volunteers also form part of a national network of interested individuals coordinated by The Tree Council.

With Cambridgeshire having relatively few trees, it is important that we can call on expertise to protect old and rare specimens as well as the character of our villages; ensuring works are justified, proportionate and sympathetic. Time commitment is minimal, but you would be providing an essential service to our community.

More information can be found on this explanatory leaflet – Tree Warden Leaflet.

If you are interested, or know someone that could help, then please contact the Parish Office in time for the Parish Council’s Annual Meetings in May.
