Mr Currington, who lives in Cambridge, has taken part in the Impington exhibition
for over twenty years and each year his paintings have proved consistently popular
with buyers. In second place was '18th century children' by Malcolm Rimmer and
in joint third place were 'Rovinj - Croatia' by Eric Whybray and 'Hemingford Grey'
by last year's winner Fred Betteridge.

The exhibition, which is a regular feature of the spring half-term break, contained
over 350 works by local artists in a wide variety of materials and styles. At
the opening evening on Saturday the 12th of February, patrons were able to view
the pictures in a relaxed atmosphere over a glass or two of wine. They also had
the chance to win vouchers towards the cost of buying one of the exhibits.
The £50 voucher was won by Hazel Harrison of Histon and the £30 voucher was
won by Elizabeth Sadler, also of Histon.

The event was organised by the Friends of Impington Village College, a local
charity which raises money for the college. Exhibition co-ordinator Hill Stewart
said "It has been a very successful year. We have sold nearly a quarter of the
exhibits and commission on the £3,600 of sales will be used to support the work
of the college."
