Description

Give way features reduce the available road space to one lane and reduce speeds by forcing drivers from one direction to give way to on-coming traffic.

Benefits

• Significantly reduce traffic speed
• Self enforcing
• Reduce crossing width for pedestrians
• Acceptable to bus operators and emergency services

Disadvantages

• May increase road noise
• May cause conflicts
• Only reduce traffic speeds in one direction
• Careful signing essential
• May reduce available parking
• Not suitable on abnormal load routes
