At concurrent Parish Meetings of Histon and Impington on 14 October, 115 people attended to vote on whether the District Council should be requested to pass an Order to group the 2 Councils under a common Parish Council. These meetings are not Parish Council meetings but can be called by their Chairmen or by any 6 local government electors
Of those voting, 3 were against the proposal, with all others in favour. The Parish Councils must now jointly prepare a case for grouping, including a suggested name of the new Council and the number of Councillors to be elected, for consideration by the District. It is hoped that a decision will be made well in time for the election date in May 2012
The conclusion of the meeting was a statement from the Chair thanking everyone for attending and looking forward to the next stage of a historic situation for the 2 villages
Thank you to everyone that completed the initial questionnaire, and to those that turned out to vote at the parish meetings
