'Photographic Memories of Histon and Impington'

We are pleased to say that the work on the production of our publication to celebrate the Millennium is progressing well. Drawing upon our splendid archive photographs taken in the villages during the last one hundred and forty years, we are planning to publish those which we feel will have the greatest appeal.

Many delightfully evocative village scenes and anecdotes will be included, and the work of several talented local photographers recognised. The names of a large proportion of the people have been identified. May we take this opportunity to thank all those who have contributed photographs and shared their knowledge with the Society - we will endeavour to do them justice!

At the time of writing, two thousand photographs have been whittled down to three hundred and twenty. Copy and captions have been written, and the task of editing down to two hundred is in hand, entailing making many difficult decisions.

A quotation has been obtained from a printer, and fundraising to enable the project to proceed is well under way. The publication date is November 1999. Copies will be available at the local library and at village craft fairs during the autumn - good Christmas presents at no more than £7.99.
