HOLIDAY FUN AND GAMES We were incredibly lucky with our Holiday Fun and Games weather on 14 August. The forecast had been grim and the night before it rained quite hard. But the sun came out and it turned out to be a very pleasant afternoon indeed. Only when we began to clear up after the event did we hear a rumble of thunder! The attendance was rather small though. Just over 100 people turned up to browse among the stalls and to play the games on offer, although we thought we had put sufficient effort into advertising the event. We had hoped to hold team competitions for a Millennium Cup, but no teams turned up. We therefore put plan B into operation very quickly, and a number of children took part in little races, happily clutching their prizes and certificates at the end. The Millennium Cup will be put up at the Histon Hornets' 5-a-side competition next May. All in all it was a modest beginning. But those present expressed their hope that we would hold another such event next year, maybe in connection with the Histon Feast. We shall certainly follow up these suggestions and any others that you might have, whether you were there on 14 August or had forgotten about it, or were away.
