Citi 7 - all change!

Written 30/10/09

Following a meeting with Parish and County Councillors, Stagecoach have revised the timetable for the Citi 7. The new timetable, which will come into operation on November 29th, serves Station Road and Cambridge Road, at off-peak daytimes Monday to Saturday, and provides a 15 minute service during weekdays and Saturdays.

Stagecoach say: "The 15 minute service will be able to cope with the current numbers who travel on the service. If we have a problem we will either use double deckers or duplicate a service if necessary. We have also made changes to the route and the times to improve reliability."

County Councillor David Jenkins, said "We had a useful meeting with Stagecoach and it was perhaps the first really constructive one in which it talked directly to the Parish Councils. This should be the first of many in which we develop together a long term strategy for bus provision for our villages."

A website has been set up for Citi 7 bus users to be a forum to collect and share views so that the service which this route provides to its users can be steadily improved.

It would vastly improve the service if citi7 drivers did not from time to time bypass Histon and travel straight down the B1049.

The revised timetable does nothing for the many people that use the Station Road stops to commute to Cambridge. Surely they should serve the most bus stops at the busiest times of the day! Obviously the guided bus will be an alternative, but I fully expect that it will take a while to settle down. I also fear that it will be full of commuters from north of Cambridge by the time it reaches Histon and there will be no seats left.

With the Guided Bus being delayed (again!) and now not starting running at the end of November, will the timetable changes still go ahead?

Now that the start of the guided bus has been delayed 'until further notice', I trust the Citi 7 will continue to run down Cambridge Road at peak times after November 29th, otherwise commuters in south Impington will have no way of getting to work.
