The Histon "Pong"

Written 14/10/08

For some time now residents in much of Histon have been suffering from some pretty unpleasant smells, which have been coming from the Premier Foods site.

They've finally tracked down what's been causing it - and how to sort it.

A letter (Adobe/PDF, 67KB) was sent by SCDC to a number of people - but not everyone - which covers what's been going on. Premier Foods is now distributing a letter (Adobe/PDF, 204KB) to all residents that may be affected with details of how they propose to solve the problem.

After receiving our letter from Premier Foods I have since e-mailed Nick Atkins at SCDC to query why as the offending tank has been identified it cannot be taken out of commission until the problem has been fully rectified. The smell once again over this weekend has been unbearable, especially Saturday evening.

I have today received a response from Nick Atkins to state that they are unable to take the offending tank out of commission as if this was done the whole factory would have to close down! No comment with regard to the offensive smell over this last weekend.
