Histon & Impington Crier closes

Written 17/09/08

The following mail was received today from Nigel Brookes, Editor of the Crier:

"I write to inform you the monthly Histon and Impington Crier has ceased publication with immediate effect.

At the same time, I would like to take the opportunity to record my thanks to all our readers and advertisers and to send my appreciation to those who have regularly contributed articles and photographs to the publication over the last six years.

I hope that you will continue to send your contributions to the newsdesk at the Cambridge News and am sure they will be gratefully received there as much as they were at the Histon and Impington Crier. Please email them to

Thanking you again for all your past support"

Is there any interest in developing a community newspaper? Hollyoak Vets would be happy to help support it financially with advertising and also help with organisational and editorial skills if needed. The closing of the Histon & Impington Crier may be a great new opportunity for the community. I'm sure we could get support from the old Crier advertisers to make it economically possible. Any takers?

Open Gardens in Histon and Impington, now planning for June 14th 2009, was hoping to get regular publicity again in The Crier - we are very sorry it has folded. If a community newspaper should start we would be very glad to provide regular stories and pictures most months from now on till July 2009. www.opengardens.org
