Written 26/01/08

Impington Village College's 47th annual art exhibition will take place next month from the 9th to the 14th of February. The event is a regular feature of the spring half-term and, as in previous years, will contain around 400 works by local artists in a wide variety of materials and styles. All the exhibits will be for sale at prices from £30 upwards.

At the private view from 7.00 - 9.00 pm on Saturday the 9th of February, visitors will be able to view the exhibits and meet some of the artists. The £5 entry fee will include a catalogue, complimentary wine and snacks, and the chance to win a voucher for £50 towards the painting of your choice. Tickets can be bought in advance by sending an e-mail to

Entry to the exhibition is free during the rest of the week and the opening times are:

  • Sunday 10 February: 2.30 - 6.00 pm
  • Monday 11 February: 2.00 - 4.00 pm and 7.00 - 9.00 pm
  • Tuesday 12 February 2.00 - 4.00 pm and 7.00 - 9.00 pm
  • Wednesday 13 February 2.00 - 4.00 pm

Visitors will again be able to vote for their favourite exhibit and the winning artist will receive a prize of £100. The winner will be announced at 3pm on the final day of the exhibition. Last year's joint winners were Rachel Haynes with `Gentle Sleep' and Malcolm Rimmer with `17th century Playtime'.

The event is organised by the Friends of IVC - a local charity, which rises money for the college. Each year about £3,000 worth of paintings are sold and the commission on the sales is used to support the work of the college.
