Works have been going on at the War Memorial to clean and restore lettering that has lost its paint. After trial works in the last week, Rattee & Kent will be completing the repairs before the Remembrance Sunday service.
Works are as follows:
- Monday 15th - commence light cleaning followed by biocide treatments
- Thursday 18th - commence painting of lettering
- Thursday 25th - commence shelter coat works
Completion should be approximately 31st October.
Since the memorial is listed, we are now more constrained in how it can be restored and treated. As a result, minor restoration works of this nature are likely to be more frequent in the coming years.
