Probation Service Enviro Activities in your area
Having discussed several possible projects, IPC and the enviro.volunteers have recently agreed to utilise the services of the Probation Service. Teams of approximately 10 people, working under close supervision, will be fulfilling their community service obligation within Histon and Impington.
On Sunday 27th April they will finish clearing the large section of brambles on the corner of New Road and the B1049. They will also be clearing ivy from some of the trees which have been smothered and are becoming a little top heavy, digging out self set Sycamore saplings and creating log stacks and brush wood habitat piles in The Copse.
This is only one of several projects they will be working on within our community during the course of the next few Sundays. Under the guidance of the enviro.volunteers they have already cleared the Gunns Lane footpath to Westwick and more recently the brambles which were encroaching onto the southern footpath at The Coppice.
Other projects will include preparing various sites for wildflower planting, filling holes in the woodland footpaths, ivy clearance, repairing, renewing and rewiring the boundary fence posts, removing unsafe paving slabs and creating a new planting bed alongside the footpath opposite the hotel, clearing the ditch alongside Bourgoynes Road/Clay Close Lane etc.....
